It is the goal of TOC (Thoroughbred Owners of California) to provide leadership for the protection of owner interests as they may be affected by State laws, racing rules, and negotiations between the owners and Racing Associations as well as other organizations involved in the sport.
The business of racing thoroughbreds is more of an art than an economic science. It involves a deep emotional attachment to the owner's horses, a zest for challenge, and steady shoulders. As a result, the owner occupies a unique niche in the world of horse-racing. The goals of this site are to view racing SOLELY from the owners´ perspective, which may bring it occasionally into conflict with other points of view. If you find contrary opinions to those registered in the following pages, the authors suggest you consider their source and examine the motivation of those who disagree.
In short, we welcome you to the wondrous world of owning, and trust you have found, or will find, thoroughbred racehorse ownership one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. This site is only small part of what the TOC handbook is about. If you would like the complete guide, please contact us and we will be happy to send you a full printed copy.
